8 Month Wrap Up!

HAPPY 8 MONTHS OWEN!
(Pssssst!.. I am trying a new way of posting so that I can capture the entire month)

Month 8 flew by! But I must admit, he has had the largest amount of growth this month compared to the others.  A lot has happened!

Play:  Everything Owen touches goes in his mouth! He is like King Midas except instead of gold it's drool. He has been able to do a lot more playing since he can get around now.  Currently, he is obsessed with Lola! He has always loved her, but now its pretty sad, he chases her everywhere, stalker style, and Lola continues to be wonderful to him.

Happenings:  The Fourth of July! We had a really great day..my friends family and ours went to the parade, frontier days, and then saw fireworks.  He loved the parade, and he was a real trooper for such a long day.

Sleep:  Owen goes to bed around 6-7pm and wakes up between 5:30 and 6:30am.  He takes 2-3 naps during the day.  In general sleep is good, when there isn't a tooth coming in.  Kevin and I crack up when he sleeps like this, we call this his assassinated pose :)

Favorites:  Anything that has a cord, the drapes, the vacuum/roomba, Lola, walking toys, his play table and house, and climbing!

Checkup:  Weight -around 19lbs (52%).  Height- 27'' (92%) approx. Teeth- 4, 2 top and 2 bottom. Healthy baby boy!
Milestones:  I can't believe I can say this in the same sentence this month but..it's official! We have a walker AND a crawler! Craziness, I agree.  I never thought he would crawl until one day his need to get the roomba was so strong he hobbled with a peg leg over to it.  Owen definitely is in the 'attachment phase', clinging to mommy and screaming when I walk away.
Play:  We have been so active this month! Here we are below at the arboretum with the cousins.  We go to the zoo, pool, park, have play dates....this is really such a fun baby age, I am loving it :)

Clothes:  Owen has made a lot of growing milestones but not physically! He's still in his 6-12 month clothes but growing out of them and into the 12 month clothes more and more.  Oh and he wears a size 5.5 shoe.
FYI:  He gets into everything now! And FAST! we definitely childproofed but need to do more because he is very determined to get something he sees!  And he loves to climb for example...

Owen attended his first Wedding! He donned a seersucker blue stripe suit and danced a fool but was sleeping about a half hour after dinner:)
Mommy:  Being home with Owen has proved its perks this past month.  He literally is new every single day now and I get to see it all, and it is summer, we have a lot of fun! I got to celebrate my 30th birthday this year with my friends and family.  I went all out taking a trolly all around the city stoping at a few bars with great friends.  And, my husband treated be to an upgrade of my engagement ring! He took me to our jeweler and I got to pick out a new setting :)
Cannot wait to see what month 9 brings,

Happy 7 months Owen!

It's getting harder to take monthly pictures of Owen on the rug, here is one of the many outtakes..

Happy 7 months my baby boy!  We are over half way to your 1st birthday! Doctor said you were in the 97% for height (51% for weight) at your checkup and at first I couldn't believe it, and then yes, I did believe it, you are huge for 7 months!

You are starting to pull yourself up from things you can reach and you also get on all fours to get at something... usually its me :)

The doctor could not believe you are walking already.  You are well on your way to being independent! But there are some battle wounds from trying...here was your first boo boo (between the eyes ; /).  You are a champ with physical pain!

Just moments later here you are again...

You are more lovey dovey than ever this month and I totally eat it up! Every five minutes during play you have to climb up to me and say hi, give hugs, rasberries, and kisses.
You do not like going to to stores or restaurants right now, which really stinks for mommy, but you sure do look good in a shopping cart:)

You are all about getting what you want, the moment you want it, and you will let us know how you feel about it too! Drama!

You are so fun to watch now, you can try your hardest to get at the things you want. I can see you understanding the world more and more every day.
You are consistently letting mom and dad sleep all the way until 5:30/6:30am, its amazing!
I mean who couldn't love this face?

You are so fun to be around and cuddle with. You are the best little boy a mommy could ask for.
Love,
Mom

Kim K's Baby name!

Though the Kardashians make me want to capture them and drop them into the poorest city of Honduras, I do l-o-v-e naming names! So here are my top five guesses for baby Kimye!

5)  Katima
4)  Karisma
3)  Kennedy
2)  Kyde
And big winner is...
1)  Kensley

So 3 out of these 5 names I made up, and obviously all 5 of them start with 'K'.  My guess is that the name will be made up, or be so out of the norm people will think its made up.  Kensley, what I think the babies name will be, is a name I actually had on my my short girl list for next Gubat baby (not soon).  However it was benched for sounding snooty. And the last Kardashian stole my name if Owen was a girl....Penelope.  Yes, Owen could have been a Penelope but now the Kardashians have ruined it forever. Way to go, awful people.

Birth Story

Okay here is a huge caveat before reading this!  This post is really for me, but all are welcome to read if interested.  The reason why I didn't make it a wonderful smiley great birth story is because it wasn't.  It wasn't awful, Owen was never in harms way thank God, or myself.  But I need to remember these details, and so that is why it is written this way. (oh yea, and it's super long).
Thanks!
Not sure how many weeks I was, but I was able to balance a glass!
I have been wanting to write Owen's birth story for a while now. I think that it has taken me so long because I really do not like to think about it.  I would rather just cherish him now that he is here.  It was a long 15 hours from the time I entered the hospital until he finally made his appearance.  He was a week late.  The doctor gave me an ultimatum:  I could get induced on Friday or wait until Monday.  I chose Monday because I thought he had more time to come out on his own. Nope. Monday morning arrived and he was still in utero:(
I woke up at 4:30am, took a shower, did my hair and even my make up. I knew it would be the last time I would be able to get myself ready on my own for a very long time. Kevin and I drove to the hospital around 5:45am, just in time for our 6am appointment.  On November 5th, 2012, you had to be induced.
I had gotten all ready with my bag full of goodies and I got in the hospital gown and it was time to begin.  I was excited, but very, very, VERY nervous.  So nervous that I almost passed out when they put the IV in me to get me started.  But we had a great nurse, her name was Sun. Once they had me all hooked up, they started pumping me with pitocin.  Time went on and I started contracting. Some odd hours passed and Sun let us know that a great anesthesiologist was available if I decided to get the epidural.  The window to get this doctor was limited, so even though I could still take the pain, I decided to get it because I was very nervous about it and I wanted the good doctor.  Getting the epidural was crazy, but WAY better than I expected.  She ws right, the doc was good.
Kevin and I waited and waited.  The epidural caused me to shake and twitch and after the 15 hours of labor my muscles were so tired from all the shaking.  Next they gave me an antibiotic that was for Strep B.  That drug made my scalp itch like crazy, and Kevin and I had all four of our hands itching my scalp at the same time.  More time went on, I was freezing and shaking and I had blankets up to my neck.  My legs were so numb and felt so heavy, but at least I could always wiggle my toes, that kept me sain.  My body was filling with a lot of fluid and I just felt cold, and heavy, and helpless.  I relied on Kevin and Sun for everything, and I prayed in my head a lot.  I absolutely do not like not being out of control and I was never in control this day.  Every 5 minutes they had me hooked up to a machine that took my blood pressure and I swear that it was more uncomfortable than anything else that day.  It squeezed my fat arm so much I was black and blue from it the next day.  More waiting.... The doctors switched shifts.  After a while they broke my water.  Then, more waiting.  Finally around 6pm Sun said I could try pushing if I wanted to or I can wait until he came further down.  But by that time I wanted to get things going so I decided to push.  And so we did.  Me, Kevin and Sun pushed and pushed and pushed.  Just when our baby was making a lot of progress, it was time for Sun to go home and we had to have a new nurse.  This new nurse, Jessica, was AWFUL.  By 8:30 pm I was really feeling the pain, and I needed another bout of epidural, so another anesthesiologist came in and gave me WAY to much epidural.  In hindsight I wonder if they thought I was going to need a c-section because he drugged me so much. However after I got the drug I was able to push a lot better and he was ready to come out.  Dr. McCool came in and after about 3 good pushes with him, Owen finally came out.  The first thing Owen did was pee on our doctor and we should've known then what a sprinkler he was! Kevin watched every single detail.  Owens eyes were wide open when he came out like he couldn't wait to look around.  I remember waiting to hear him cry and he did right away, thank God.  He was beautiful! Worth every second the 15 hours of hell.  Owen continued to stay awake and look around.  He was so alert, every person commented on this. He finally was here, our baby boy, November 5th, 2012.  I love you sweet boy. ~ Mom

Project Playroom Completed!!

We are finally finished! And I am finalyl able to post about it. We are happy with how it turned out and it is really nice to have another place that the baby can play.  We stayed with a very neutral theme, knowing as Baby O grows there will be additions such as 'this years obsessed super hero' to add.

A lot of time went into this space.  Most of it was painting over the wood paneling, which would have been no big deal except our specific paneling had deep grooves between each piece of 'wood', which meant that we needed to take a brush and stroke in paint to each and every single one. Can I tell you how glad I am that we did this when Baby O was smaller!? He is so mobile now that I wouldn't have the ability to step away for a second.

Without further adooo...adu? Here it is.

And there you have it, a renovated basement.  We had a HUGE score of a shopping day visiting land of nod outlet.....amazing!
Things we purchased:
Paint & Primer (lowes)
Carpet (lowes)
Rugs (land of nod and ikea)
Bean Bag (target)
Play table (land of nod)
Media center (ikea -expedit)

Curtains (land of nod)
Decals (toys r us)

Till next time!

Baby O ~ 26 Weeks

We just got back from a week long vaca in Florida.  Kevin's brother and best friend came to my parents house to see Owen.  The weather was perfect and we had a great time swimming, playing tennis and golf, shopping, and getting to go out by ourselves! SOOOO nice to have live-in babysitters for a while :)

Sleep:  Baby O had his first cold this week so sleep hasn't been the greatest.  It was really mild, only lasting a few days but his stuffy/runny nose and congestion did not let him sleep well. I'm thinking it is from teething, or he caught something on the airplane ride home.
On our way to Florida, sleeping on Daddy.
Play: He is really getting a lot more interested in other children.  He likes to stare and smile at other kiddos when we are out running errands.

Owen and Uncle Keith
Diet: Owen eats so well, but he doesn't like green beans ore peas. He loves yogurt, applesauce, pears, avocado, sweet potatoes, bananas,  and cereal.  I am excited to grind up some meat to let him try soon. But, I know I have got to get him to like green veggies now or I will be fighting him into adulthood.
At our FAV restaurant, naples flatbread!
Clothes: Still in 6-12 and 12-18 month outfits.  He has so many great summer clothes and he is loving wearing shorts and tees.
Disney Store!
Crying: O was needy this week because of his cold, he held im a lot and he slept during the day a lot more than usual.
Soakin' up the sun with Grammy!
Milestones: I think we can say he is officially cruising! He can take about four steps max on his own before he tumbles. He is also eating in his high chair.  He can push up with both his arms while on his belly but still no where near crawling.  There is a great chance we may skip this step.
Fav's: Walking, walking and more walking....this kid lives to walk! He just won't give up on it.  Kevin and I sit on the floor and let him walk in between us to each other and he just loves it.  He also loves the vacuum.  I am gong to have some big guns from carrying him and vacuuming at the same time.  It is very June Cleaver, I know ;)
Gram taking us to lunch.
Followings:  We recently bought Owen a wagon walker, and I hope it is going to help him start pushing with his arms a bit more.
Mommy: I am so grateful to have my mom watch Owen so that I could play tennis and go out for some baby free dinners! It was a ton of fun with Kevin's friend and brother.
